02-07-1950: Leroy McGuirk, who has reigned as World Junior heavyweight champion since 1939 is blinded in a horrific automobile accident ending his career. He goes on to be a successful promoter. McGuirk had lost the sight in one eye as a kid in a swimming pool accident. On this night he was the passenger in a car driven by Bob Clay. McGuirk was thrown into the windshield shattering his glasses which blinded him in his one good eye, causing him now to be totally blind.

03-15-1950: The first Professional wrestling card in Dominican Republic took place March 15, 1950. The promoter was Enrique Santamaria. According to newspaper accounts of the day, the matches involved blood and wild brawls. All the wrestlers on the card were build as foreigners such as Fernando Oses of Spain, El Toro, and El Gitano.
