01-01-1991: Bobby Heenan is arrested one day after he collapsed on an airplane. Heenan, 47, was coming home to Tampa from Detroit on Northwest Airlines when he passed out just as the plane was landing. Airport police found him unconscious and rushed him to St. Joseph's hospital. With his heartbeat down near 35 beats per minute, the doctors asked police to check Heenan's baggage and they found 48 grams of marijuana and two pipes containing marijuana resin. After Heenan regained consciousness and was released from the hospital, he was arrested when he went to claim his baggage. According to a story in the Tampa Tribune, Heenan didn't appear surprised and was very cooperative with police and charged with possession of 48 grams of marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia.

Kevin Von Erich's World Class Championship Wrestling is sold to Mario Savoldi's International Championship Wrestling. The two groups have merged forming a new group called International World Class Championship Wrestling.
01-14-1991: In Memphis, TN at the Mid-South Coliseum: Jeff Jarrett beat Brian Lee to win the vacant USWA Southern title. The proposed deal where Joe Pedicino would buy Jerry Jarrett's United States Wrestling Association and turn it into a national touring promotion fell fell through. This was part of Pedicino’s continuing effort to put together the Global Wrestling Federation (GWF).

12-22-1991: UWFI (Japan): Best in the World Decision Match in Tokyo, Japan: Sumo Hall drawing 11,000: Marakazu Maeda drew Hiromitsu Kanehara… Vince Ross defeated Makoto Ohe in a kickboxing match… Masahito Kakihara defeated Jim Boss… Yuki Miyato beat Tom Burton… Gary Albright defeated Kiyoshi Tamura… Bob Backlund beat Yoji Anjoh… Kazuo Yamazaki beat Tatsuo Nakano… Billy Scott beat James Warring via split decision in a wrestler vs. boxer match. Warring was supposed to win a close match via decision but Scott dominated the match… Nobuhiko Takada beat Trevor Berbick via countout in a wrestler vs. boxer match. Trevor Berbick left the ring after taking several kicks to the leg. He claimed that the rules stated that no kicks below the waist were to be allowed. When Berbick complained to the referee, it appears the referee agreed, but did nothing to prevent more kicks. Company officials claimed that the match was under normal UWFI rules. UWFI claims that lawyers for Warring and Berbick held-up the company for extra money just before their fights. If true, this explains the double crosses in those two matches. However, it's also possible this is a cover story and the double crosses were planned all along.
