September 3, 1983 Southeastern Championship Wrestling Television Show Review

We continue our look at the NWA Southeastern Championship Wrestling promotion and television program from Dothan, Alabama television studio. There isn't a lot of footage from 1982 and 1983 unfortunately. What little does exist (like this clip) is incomplete and poor quality.
Unfortunately, this show only has one match surviving but it's a pretty cool one historically. Charlie Platt is joined on commentary by Dick Steinborne, a longtime pro wrestling star. I don't know where Ric Stewart is at during this time but Steinborne has no clue what is going on. He keeps thinking there are two Super Olympias when, in fact, there is Mr. Olympia (Jerry Stubbs) and Super Olympia (Arn Anderson).
This match features Super Olympia (Arn Anderson) defeated Ted Allen. Ted Allen (one of the original Nightmares) is actually helping train Arn Anderson (Marty Lunde) and has worked with him previously in Mid-South. Both Mr. Olympia and Super Olympia are babyfaces (good guys) at this point but ultimately Mr. Olympia will turn heel (bad guy) and the two will feud.
Super Olympia will defeat Mr. Olympia in several weeks and force him to unmask and wrestle as Jerry Stubbs. By early 1984 Super Olympia will be unmasked and turn heel also and he and Jerry Stubbs will team up through out 1984 as one of the best tag teams the area ever saw.
