Notes from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (May issue with notes for March 1984): Jimmy Golden won a tournament for the NWA Southeastern heavyweight title on March 12 in Birmingham beating Mr. Orient (ex-full contact karate fighter Ron Slinker) in the final... Jimmy Golden was DQ on March 5 in the same city against Ric Flair... Wayne Farris was the last champion and has since left the area which, I guess, was the reason for the tournament... On the tag team scene Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden won the NWA Southeastern tag team titles from Arn Anderson & Jerry Stubbs but since Robert was injured in the bout, the belts reverted back to Stubbs & Anderson... The NWA U.S. Junior title has went from Larry Hamilton (who went to the Carolina's) to Rip Rogers to Johnny Rich... Besides Larry Hamilton, the New Guinea Man Eater (I believe Rick Link (actually it was Elisa Nick)) has also left... Others in the area are Ron Fuller, at least until his knee gives him the usual problems, Jacques Rougeau, Boris Zurkoff, Vic Rain the Canadian Wildcat. Mr. Orient & Boris Zurkoff & Vic Rain & Jerry Stubbs & Arn Anderson are managed by Sonny King.
