Notes: If you ever wondered how Dave Meltzer at Wrestling Observer Newsletter covered the change from Southeastern Championship Wrestling to Continental Championship Wrestling, here it is from the June 1985 issue: This promotion is trying to upgrade itself. The name has changed from Southeastern Wrestling to Continental Wrestling. The TV show is now an arena tape from Birmingham, AL with Gordon Solie as announcer. I have a hunch they are in the ESPN derby. Terry Taylor and Brad Armstrong, who are both great wrestlers, are on their way in. (Note from Karl- Taylor never made it.) I think Bob Armstrong is the man in charge. 6/3/1985 Birmingham saw Scott Armstrong pin Bill Ash to win the U.S. Jr. title. Boomer Lynch beat Porkchop Cash. (Lynch is Tom Lintz). Austin Idol beat Jimmy Golden for the Southeastern belt. Johnny Rich & Steve Armstrong beat the Nightmares (who are lots of fun to watch), Bob Armstrong beat The Flame via DQ (Joe Hamilton, Assassin), and Lord Humongous beat Ric Flair via DQ when all the heels attacked Humongous and Bob Armstrong.
