War Machine Wednesday - KISS
By Karl Stern (@dragonkingkarl, @wiwcool, karl@dragonkingkarl.com)
Since we've done comic book characters on this theme week here at When It Was Cool, you probably assumed War Machine Wednesday would be about this guy -
But oh no! When It Was Cool is about far more than comic book characters, it's also about classic rock music! This Wednesday we are celebrating the great hard rocking song War Machine by KISS!
War Machine is a song from the Creatures of the Night album released in 1982. It was the groups final record for Casablanca Records. It was the band's last album recorded with Ace Frehley credited as an official member until his return on 1998's Psycho Circus, and the first album with Vinnie Vincent as the lead guitarist.
You might be surprised to learn that this staple of hard rock music was co-written by Bryan Adams. Yes, the "Everything I do, I do it for you" and "Heaven" singer.
"War Machine"
Wanna bite the hand that feeds me, wanna turn the tides
Set the demons free and watch 'em fly
Strike down the one who leads me, I'm gonna take his place
Gonna vindicate the human race
Better watch out 'cause I'm a war machine
Better watch out 'cause I'm a war machine
Take the reins of power and seize them,
draw the battle lines
Armageddon's just a matter of time
Tear down the voice of reason, let the arrows fly
Your freedom's just a state of mind, yeah
Better watch out 'cause I'm a war machine
You better watch out 'cause I'm a war machine
You better watch out 'cause I'm a war machine
You better watch out 'cause I'm a war machine
Better watch out 'cause I'm a war machine
I'm a war machine, I'm a war machine
